Do you need some help figuring out this parenting thing? I empathize with your passion to be a great parent, and that sometimes it's really tough. I can help!
My counseling approach is rooted in a client-centered model. We find your compass bearings, then work towards helping you feel empowered and confident to make the very best parenting choices.
I have over 25 years of experience working with parents, couples, and children. May career has spanned coordinating programs in schools, non-profits, and juvenile court programs. I have been teaching Parent Education classes for Family Court in Portland for 7 years, am an Adjunct Faculty Member at Mt. Hood Community College, and have led parenting groups for many years. As a Licensed School Counselor in Oregon and Washington, I worked at every grade level (K-12) for 18 years. My Masters is in Counseling from the University of Montana.
Completed Trauma Informed Coach Certification in 2021.
Personally and professionally, I am committed to racial and social justice by actively listening, learning, and recognizing that change starts with understanding any implicit bias I may have. Black Lives Matter!
Being a divorced father of two wonderful kids, I've "been there" learning how to positively co-parent and really relate to this journey. I love integrating a passion for nature, protecting wild places, and outdoor play into teaching. When offline, I'm likely hiking in the mountains, windsurfing in the Columbia River Gorge, or cross-country skiing.
