Richard Halpern, M.A.

I have over 25 years of experience working with youth and families in schools, non-profits, and juvenile offender programs. I received a Master's in Counseling from the University of Montana. I currently teach Parent Education classes for Multnomah Family Court, am an Adjunct Faculty Member at Mt. Hood Community College, and have facilitated parenting groups in many diverse settings.  As a School Counselor, I worked at every grade level (K-12) for 16 years.

My presentation style is dynamic, fun, and experiential. In one-on-one sessions with parents, my approach is very practical and focused on specific steps parents can take to address a child's behavioral issues immediately.

Being a divorced father, I've "been there" learning how to positively co-parent great kids. In addition to being an Oregon Registry Master Trainer, I'm a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and a Class Facilitator for the nationally recognized Nurturing Parenting Programs. When it comes to helping kids reduce screen time, I love integrating a passion for nature and outdoor play into learning.

Coach4Parents in Portland is a certified Emerging Small Business (ESB) via the Oregon Certification Office for Business Inclusion and Diversity (COBID).
